Opendoor Content Partnership
Opendoor is an online real estate company that buys and sells residential real estate, disrupting the home buying industry.
Bankrate’s partnership with Opendoor was a content package for their site and social. Our editorial team wrote original articles on the home selling and buying processes. We designed infographics to help illustrate complex ideas to accompany the content.
These articles, paired with the infographics, were published on Opendoor’s blog and sent out in weekly newsletters. The infographics were also reformatted for Instagram.

I managed the design process from ideation to completion. I initially hired a freelance designer to design the infographics. While their initial layouts were creative, their work required several rounds of feedback, was visually busy, and didn’t reflect the Opendoor brand. So, I brought the project back in-house to my design team.
Creating these designs in-house, I took a much more hands-on approach to art, directing the layout, text hierarchy, and content. I led the production of the work and provided critique to the designers throughout the drafting process. Working closely with the editorial editor, we made minor copy edits for cleaner spacing. Project managing the design side of the project I was in frequent communication with stakeholders at Opendoor. By doing the work in-house we created a stronger branded package.
A few months into this partnership, we found the number of Opendoor branded assets of houses limiting. To tackle this, I worked with one of my designers to illustrate a new set of homes within Opendos ’s established design style to provide a wider range of housing options. Approaching this project with inclusivity it was important to us to create different types of homes, like apartments. My designer began with sketches, which he then fleshed out into final designs. I selected the home types to illustrate, provided creative direction on scale, color, and detail, and provided feedback.
The client was pleased by these designs, which were not initially part of our agreed deliverables but an additional set of assets.
